Building a sustainable model for lasting impact.
As an RTC Fellow in rural Tanzania for 3 months, my team and I quickly assessed the environment, and we developed a sustainable business model that complemented the existing healthcare system rather than creating a parallel solution.
We field-tested the approach locally, combining strategy with hands-on execution and developing practical tools that could continue to be used after the fellowship ended. The model was subsequently applied by the nonprofit in other countries, while the educational materials we created were adopted by the regional hospital for ongoing community outreach.

Educational flip charts
Education was a critical gap, so we built it into the business model. We created simple, visual materials in Swahili and English, branded for the regional hospital rather than the nonprofit, so local providers could use them independently and reach far more people at scale.
